ACRE is a non-profit initiative and residency program for artistic research and rural practice in Berlin, DE, and La Brigue, FR. Each year, ACRE hosts international artists to carry out their projects in an inclusive and experimental environment as part of a research residency.
On our small organic farm located in the Alpes-Maritimes, we critically examine the contextual design of its land in terms of vegetation, climate, and the seasons to foster cooperative activities and shape discourses in close relation to nature. This includes farming the land, taking care of a kitchen garden, and old fruit trees to produce local products that are formed by their particular place.
Together with guest curators and artists, we organise exhibitions, book launches, screenings, and talks in Berlin. The ACRE Library is an integral part of the project space. It comprises an artist’s book archive that reflects the practice and research of our guest artists and project partners — a discursive space for the book as an independent art form.
