Dana Lorenz’s upcoming exhibition “Zunge” (AT) (“Tongue”/WT) follows the exhibition “LCB Editions, 1968-89 — a re-reading” (2023), as well as the eponymous publication created in the context of her solo exhibition “Grasping the Hands With the Feet” (2023) at alpha nova & galerie futura.
The installation features silicone book pages in varying sizes, some marked with personal text fragments and glossary entries—an expanding, subjective dictionary of the artist—complemented with elements as ready-mades. The pages reference both the traditional book page or paper form, while also being performatively transformed into sculptural objects. They are soft, sticky, delicate, vulnerable, and reveal various stages of transparency and patterning. How can embodied writing extend to the materiality itself? And what occurs when paper becomes fluid and transforms into a new state of matter?
Specifically for ACRE, new glossary entries will be created, linked to biographical parameters and certain Berlin-specific locations. Dana Lorenz focuses on experiences of social exclusion and inclusion, where moments between shame and resistance become individual breaking points.
