A sonic poetry evening with Andreas Bülhoff and Marc Matter from Spoken Matter.
Central to this evening is their vinyl release Micro Poems. This record radicalises the concept of repetitions of isolated and ambiguous words. Micro Poems consists of 24 loops with singular words or pairs of words. These words are all homophones, meticulously selected for their high degree of ambiguity and intonated by Ian Hatcher with a special prosodic approach. Listening to the loops long enough allows the various meanings of these words to unfold – and new meanings may emerge in the listener’s mind through illusory perceptions triggered by psychoacoustic effects. For this event, Andreas and Marc will give an introduction to the concept while live mixing the record to chop up an abstract, minimalist text as a practice of sound writing.
